These features make it a versatile solution for overlanding, work trucks, camping, and off-road adventures.
What Is Included to Seal the Expedition Truck Cap to Prevent Water and Dust Ingress?
We include a 3M single-bulb seal designed to be installed along the perimeter of the bed rails and bulkhead. This seal helps reduce the entry of water and dust into the truck bed. The rear hatch is also equipped with its own bulb seal, which compresses against the top of the tailgate when closed to improve sealing. Additionally, we provide two pieces of butyl tape that can be applied at the bulkhead rail. These are specifically intended for the step-down area between the side plastic bed rail and the bulkhead, helping further minimize potential water and dust intrusion. Please note that no truck bed can be completely waterproof or airtight. While these sealing components significantly reduce exposure, some minimal water intrusion may still occur. The most common area for this is typically around the tailgate perimeter.
Where is the 3rd Brake Light on my Jeep Gladiator Application?
The Expedition Cap for the Jeep Gladiator does not include an additional third brake light, since the vehicle already features a factory-mounted third brake light on the tailgate.
Are the Roof Rails Compatible with Other Aftermarket Crossbars?
The included roof rails are specifically designed to work with Overland Vehicle Systems (OVS) optional crossbars. They feature a 19mm T-slot channel, allowing compatibility with a variety of aftermarket crossbar and mounting systems. We are currently in the process of testing additional aftermarket crossbars and will update our installation instructions with a list of confirmed compatible systems as testing is completed.
Does the Expedition Truck Cap Glass Closest to the Cab Have a Slider or Drop-Down Option?
The current design includes a fixed rear window and does not offer drop-down or pass-through access to the cab.
Can the Expedition Truck Cap be Locked or Opened From the Inside?
The Expedition Truck Cap cannot be opened or locked from inside the truck bed at this time. We are currently developing internal latch options that will allow the cap to be opened from the inside; however, this feature is not yet available.
Does the Expedition Truck Cap have a Vent?
The Expedition truck cap features a fixed vent located on the panel closest to the cab. Depending on the specific model, the vent may be positioned either above or below the window. This vent is designed to promote airflow and circulation, helping to reduce condensation inside the topper. It also allows air to escape when closing the panels, improving ease of operation and overall functionality.
Is there Any Drilling Required to Install the Expedition Truck Cap?
The only drilling required for the Expedition is a single hole for the Tacoma wiring installation.
What is the Load Carrying Weight Limit for the Expedition Truck Cap?
When paired with Overland Vehicle Systems (OVS) optional crossbars, the roof system supports up to 325 lbs of dynamic weight (while driving) and 750 lbs of static weight (when stationary).
How Much Weight Do the Door Panels Hold?
The Expedition Truck Cap side access doors are designed to support approximately 15 lbs of mounted accessories. This allows MOLLE-compatible storage panels, recovery gear, first aid kits, and trail essentials to be securely mounted while maintaining proper gas strut operation.
Can you install side door or side frame MOLLE panels on Expedition Pro+?
The under-side door panels and side frame panels are not compatible with the Expedition Pro+ version. This is because the door already includes an integrated MOLLE panel, and the available mounting channels only have a single row, which prevents additional panels from being installed. For the side frame area, there is approximately 1 inch of clearance between the window MOLLE panel and the frame, which is insufficient for proper panel installation. To install these panels, the existing window MOLLE panel would need to be removed.
